A Night at the Opera is the fourth studio album by the British rock band Queen, released on 21 November 1975 by EMI Records in the United Kingdom and by Elektra Records in the United States. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker and Queen, it was reportedly the most expensive album ever recorded at the time of its release. The album's title is taken from the Marx Brothers film of the same name.
Queen spent three months in the studio making the landmark A Night at the Opera, reportedly the most expensive album ever recorded in music history to that point. Bohemian Rhapsody alone took three weeks, with the band working 10 to 12 hour days on the multitrack vocal arrangements. The six-minute song contains so many overdubs that the original master tape was almost worn through, according to Brian May. Both the song and the album changed the course of Queen's career and rock music in general, rendering the cliché "classic" an understatement

A Night at the Opera. A Night At The Opera. Nothing succeeds like excess-at least that's the case with Queen's breakthrough classic, A Night at the Opera. On one level, the title is a reference to the band's operatic pretensions, best in evidence here on the classic "Bohemian Rhapsody," which was championed by headbangers a generation before being revived by the Wayne's World set. Of course, A Night at the Opera was also the title of a Marx Brothers movie, and the reference isn't lost on Queen, who seldom scaled the heights of pomprock without a knowing wink.
Queen – A Night at the Odeon – Hammersmith 1975 is released on CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, vinyl, digitally and in a super deluxe box set version on November 20. Audio formats feature three additional tracks as the cameras stopped rolling before the band’s second encore, while the audio team carried on recording
