Led Zeppelin is the debut album by English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was released on 12 January 1969 in the United States and on 31 March in the United Kingdom by Atlantic Records. The album was recorded in September and October 1968 at Olympic Studios, London, shortly after the band's formation. It contains a mix of original material worked out in the first rehearsals, and remakes and rearrangements of contemporary blues and folk songs
Led Zeppelin's second album was recorded during the precious little downtime they had on their endless 1969 world tour. It took them months to record in studios all across America and Europe, yet somehow it sounds cohesive. The track listing almost reads like a greatest hits collection: "Whole Lotta Love," "Thank You," "Heartbreaker," "What Is And What Should Never Be" and "Bring It On Home. Led Zeppelin IV won this poll in a blow-out, and it's really no surprise. It captures the band at their heaviest and mightiest, and there's not a single weak moment.
Led Zeppelin had a fully formed, distinctive sound from the outset, as their eponymous debut illustrates. Taking the heavy, distorted electric blues of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, and Cream to an extreme, Zeppelin created a majestic, powerful brand of guitar rock constructed around simple, memorable riffs and lumbering rhythms. But the key to the group's attack was subtlety: it wasn't just an onslaught of guitar noise, it was shaded and textured, filled with alternating dynamics and tempos. As Led Zeppelin proves, the group was capable of such multi-layered music from the start.

For their eponymous debut, Led Zeppelin stylistically fused elements of blues and rock music – Babe I’m Gonna Leave You, You Shook Me, and I Can’t Quit You Baby are based upon blues standards. Often considered as the album’s centrepiece, Dazed and Confused notably showcased Jimmy Page playing his guitar with a violin bow. This unorthodox technique was repeated on How Many More Times. Despite initial scepticism upon its release, the legacy and influence of Led Zeppelin is now widely recognised

Led Zeppelin’s debut album, newly remastered, and including an additional CD and double LP featuring a previously unreleased October 1969 concert from Paris, France. The original vinyl had a fat but silky sound, an aura to it. The ambience was in part due to heavy use of reverb and playing with right and left channels in the mix, done by engineers eager to explore the novelty of "stereo" and the rich phasing of organs weaving through spacey vocals by Plant.
