On Nov. 26, 2009, a year after Frightened Rabbit released their beloved sophomore album, The Midnight Organ Fight, frontman Scott Hutchison and his band visited our sister site, Daytrotter, for an intimate performance of three songs from that album, as well as one from their 2006’s debut, Sing the Greys. Hutchison, who was found dead Friday in his native Scotland after an apparent suicide, was a uniquely gifted songwriter with that rare ability to pour forth empathy and essential human experience with only the flickering of a light in the darkness

Frightened Rabbit brings an ominous tension to the grounds, gravitating toward all of the whimpering reluctance to get caught expressing too much of a gleeful side. It's not in the least unattractive, and actually is quite stunning in a National and Phosphorescent sort of way - with sometimes anthem-like guitars and other times bare strummings to do the trick, where there's a lot of major renovation that needs to be done in a life to make something that would be acceptable. Frightened Rabbit were a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, formed in 2003. Initially a solo project for vocalist and guitarist Scott Hutchison, the final line-up of the band consisted of Hutchison, Grant Hutchison (drums), Billy Kennedy (guitar, bass), Andy Monaghan (guitar, keyboards), and Simon Liddell (guitar). From 2004 the band were based in Glasgow.
