Something Special is the thirteenth studio album by American band Kool & the Gang, released in 1981. It was the group's third consecutive Platinum-certified album. It continued the level of success that the band's previous two albums brought, contained several hit singles including: "Take My Heart" went to No. 1 on the R&B chart and No. 17 on the Pop chart. Get Down On It" reached No. 4 on the R&B chart and No. 10 on the Pop chart

Taylor's silky voice and several catchy arrangements, R&B fans regard their true glory days as the 1970s. The New Jersey-based ensemble patented a jazz-tinged funk approach keyed by Robert "Kool" Bell's basslines, red-hot horn lines, chunky keyboards and guitar riffs, and functional vocals. Although they seldom ventured beyond the R&B charts during this era, their music had far more bite than their later pop hits.

The Force (Kool & the Gang album). The Force is the ninth studio by the funk band Kool & the Gang, released in 1977. It failed to generate any major impact, and is now recognized as one of two albums between the group's two periods of success. It was after the first string of hits in the mid and early 1970s, and before the group hit it big in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Bass guitar; vocals; percussion – Robert "Kool" Bell.

This was the 1970 debut album by Kool and the Gang, and it remains an important one in their deep catalogue. As you would expect from this early 70s version of the band, the music is a lively stew of jazz, soul, and funk influences. Horns and guitars galore in these mostly instrumental workouts. None of their relatively lame "Ladies Night" 80s type pop tunes, but good and greasy soul-jazz jams. All of the songs were written in collaboration with album producer Gene Redd, the one exception being a dynamite cover of the Smokey Robinson song "Since I Lost My Baby.
