Let It Be is the third album by the Replacements. Antagonized by the constraints of the more traditional punk rock they’d been playing on their first two records, the band had been acting out against the punk establishment. They dressed in skirts and flannel and played covers by decidedly non-punk artists like Kiss, T. Rex and Hank Williams. Let It Be is now widely percieved as a classic album, regularly featured in lists of great albums compiled by rock critics.
The Replacements last album for Twin/Tone before signing with Sire, 1984's Let It Be is widely hailed as not just one of the group's career best, but also as an across the boards alt-rock masterpiece. All it needs is a band who are just being themselves and let's be honest, that's the only way anyone's life can be truly ambitious or epic.
Let It Be is the third studio album by American rock band The Replacements. It was released on October 2, 1984 by Twin/Tone Records. A post-punk album with coming-of-age themes, Let It Be was recorded by the band after they had grown tired of playing loud and fast exclusively as on their 1983 Hootenanny album; the group decided to write songs that were, according to vocalist Paul Westerberg, "a little more sincere.

Tim is the fourth studio album by American alternative rock band The Replacements. It was released in October 1985 on Sire Records. It was their first major label release and also the last album made by the original line-up of the band: guitarist Bob Stinson was kicked out of the band towards the end of 1986. Like its predecessors, Tim achieved moderate mainstream commercial success despite critical acclaim.

Let it Be opened up a whole new vein of what was and is indie rock. It is not only that it is one of the most audible bridges between punk and much of what was to come; the very essence of what so many of us love about indie rock, the very breadth of the music that has come to be filed under that infinitely reducible genre title is expressed in different ways throughout its eleven songs. As such, this album exists in something of a time warp. It still sounds vital and modern.
