Brain Drain is the eleventh studio album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, released on March 23, 1989. It is the last Ramones release to feature alist Dee Dee Ramone, the first to feature Marky Ramone since his initial firing from the band after 1983's Subterranean Jungle and the band's last studio album on Sire Records. Despite being featured on the album, Dee Dee did not perform his usual bass duties, with several session musicians playing the bass parts instead

Though it contains one of the Ramones' biggest radio hits, "Pet Sematary" (written for Stephen King's movie of the same name), 1989's Brain Drain finds the "bruthas" from Queens at an all-time inspirational low. And since the aforementioned track is actually reviled by most of the band's hardcore fans, the listener has to make do with opener "I Believe in Miracles" and closer "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)," which bookend the amazingly dull tracks in between with the record's only bright moments.
Brain Drain is the 11th studio album by the American punk rock band Ramones. It was released on March 23, 1989, through Sire Records. It is the last release to feature bass player Dee Dee Ramone, the first release to feature Marky Ramone since his departure after Subterranean Jungle, and the last studio album on Sire Records.
Album · 1989 · 12 Songs. By 1989, The Ramones were in an awkward position. They were punk icons living in the age of hardcore and thrash. Their live shows often featured the band playing harder and faster than necessary, while their albums tried to include hit singles by gently balancing their basic punk attack with their pop instincts. Joey Ramone held his own, with Come Back, Baby.
