Kenneth McKellar (23 June 1927 – 9 April 2010) was a Scottish tenor. McKellar studied forestry at the University of Aberdeen, after graduation working for the Scottish Forestry Commission. He later trained at the Royal College of Music as an opera singer. He did not enjoy his time with the Carl Rosa Opera Company and left them to pursue a career singing traditional Scottish songs and other works.

Kenneth McKellar is a Scottish singer who was born in Paisley in 1927. He originally studied Forestry at Aberdeen University, after graduation working for the Scottish Forestry Commission.

Kenneth McKellar was a popular tenor known for his beautiful interpretation of Scottish vocal music. He died in 2010, but his music lives on in many recordings. Kenneth McKellar was a much loved singer of traditional Scottish songs who died in 2010. He was trained as a classical tenor and started his musical career as an opera singer. He soon realized that opera was not his calling, however, and began to sing folk songs instead. For fifty years, he entertained listeners in the United Kingdom and beyond. He built a reputation as a great interpreter of traditional Scottish vocal music and became very popular. He is missed by many people. I grew up listening to Kenneth McKellar on records, the radio, and television.
