The Association Live is the first live album by The Association. The 2-disc album set was recorded at a concert in Salt Lake City and released by Warner Bros. This album peaked at number 79 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Jules Gary Alexander - lead guitar, vocals. Larry Ramos - lead guitar, vocals. Jim Yester - rhythm guitar, organ, vocals. Russ Giguere - congas, timbales, shakers, tambourine, rhythm guitar, vocals.
This 75-minute album, originally a double-LP (recorded live at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City on April 3, 1970) is a valiant attempt at capturing the Association's concert sound on record. Unfortunately, it fails for several reasons, beginning with the fact that the instrumental mix is very bass-heavy - even with adjustments to compensate, this overwhelms much of the rest of the band on several key numbers. The real problem is that cutting a live album was a thankless task for this group - so much of their sound was dependent on a studio-driven perfection - that live recording was an exercise in futility (let's put it this way - the Beach Boys pulled this off more than once, but they had a resident genius. around part of the time doing their arrangements; the Association: no genius in the ranks).
The Association is a pop music band from California in the folk rock or soft rock genre. During the 1960s, they had numerous hits at or near the top of the Billboard charts and were the lead-off band at 1967's Monterey Pop Festival. The Association Live Album.

The Association is the group's eponymous fifth studio album ( 32). It is an eclectic LP with songs in many different styles including rock, pop, blue-eyed soul, psychedelic, country and novelty, while still staying in the realm of sunshine rock and sunshine pop. Although generally well received by the critics, it did not spawn any hit singles. It was the last studio album featuring guitarist Russ Giguere, who left for a solo career in 1971.
