Wolf People are an English psychedelic rock band, formed by singer and guitarist Jack Sharp in Bedford in 2005. Frontman Jack Sharp grew up in Clophill, Bedfordshire. At 14 years old, Sharp approached future Wolf People drummer Tom Watt, who lived nearby, and asked if he would like to join his band, having heard drumming coming from Watt's house. Watt agreed despite the fact that he couldn't actually play drums - the noise Sharp had heard had actually been made by Watt's drummer sister.
Wolf People are time travellers, their tools mythology, history, hauntology, big riffs, bigger beats, electricity. It’s not a concept album, but a lot of the songs consider what the world might be like without humans, says singer/guitarist Jack Sharp. The title refers to the ruins of civilisation. For following the release of 2013’s acclaimed Fain, and a tough year for all concerned, frontman Jack Sharp considered giving up. Out of this doubt came a wellspring of new ideas that could only be recorded by Wolf People. The universe had spoken. It was written in the runes. Consider Wolf People as aural archaeologists then, or human sound mirrors receiving signals from the ghosts that rest in the fertile soil of Albion.
However, there are some distinct differences between the musical styles heard on Steeple and those found on Fain. The most apparent difference is one that is reflected in the respective albums’ cover art. While Steeple was a rather colourful and light hearted affair with plenty of uplifting melodies, Fain has a much darker and somewhat sombre feel to it. The darker atmosphere of the music is also reflected in Fain’s lyrical themes, not least during the album’s opening track Empty Vessels, featuring lyrics such as; I have been here for ten thousand years, waiting for the storm to draw me out,.

Fain" album mini-mix. Posted 6 years ago 6 years ago. Psychedelic. Wolf people - fain - all returns.
Wolf People have just gotten plain better with Fain, and honestly after listening to the album through a dozen times in the last few days I have trouble naming particular songs beyond the excellent first song "Empty Vessels", the mischievous sounding "Athol", the woeful "Thief", and stomping ending song "NRR"; there isn't a weak song in the bunch as I just hit. play on track 1 and listen through all 44 minutes to the end of track 8. My next mission is to digest the lyrics sheet. Even if you're not, but are into psychedelic music, you would be hard pressed to find anything else today that rocks like it's 1971 while still this capable of tripping you out. It may not forge into uncharted territory, but the band's influences are combined in a way that makes the old sound entirely fresh, and entirely excellent.
