John Henry is the fifth studio album by American alternative rock group They Might Be Giants. It was released in 1994. The album's name, a reference to the man versus machine fable of John Henry, is an allusion to the band's fundamental switch to more conventional instrumentation, especially the newly established use of a human drummer instead of a drum machine.

That album would have been unbelievably good, assuming you liked that kind of music, had we done a single album. The record had a lot to do with Larry. There are twenty Bassholes fans in the world. Ten of them like the hi-fi stuff, the other ten like the lo-fi stuff. Ryan: I like the hi-fi stuff. Don: The Self-titled (2005) album on Dead Canary is another high-fidelity record. Guitarist Don Howland and drummer Lamont Thomas, aka Bassholes, are caught somewhere between nostalgic reverence for original garage culture and the proto-alt-punk of bands like Mudhoney. On HAUNTED HILL, their second LP, the duo offers up a lo-fi racket that can easily be seen as inspiration for the good-humored psychobilly of bands like Rocket From The Crypt, the rustic jangle of future Midwest upstarts like the Goodnight Loving, and the endearing grunginess of overlooked college rockers such as The Grifters.
