Until the End of the World: Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack is a soundtrack album to the film of the same name, released in 1991 on Warner Bros. One song on the album, U2's "Until the End of the World", had been previously released on that band's 1991 album Achtung Baby, albeit in a different version. All of the other songs were original contributions, although some appeared on subsequent albums or greatest hits albums by the participating artists.

The first cd album I purchased with my own money, and a fascinating view of what was going to happen in music during the 90's. Take this soundtrack.

Until the End of the World is a definite contender for best motion picture soundtrack of the 1990s. With a lineup that includes Talking Heads, Lou Reed, . Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Depeche Mode, U2, and others all providing original songs or new covers, it's an absolute joy. Interspersed with Graeme Revell's haunting ambient score, virtually every pop/rock track works perfectly as part of a cohesive whole. In addition to the greatness of the songs, the album is perfectly sequenced. It's hard to imagine a better song progression than that of the one from Julee Cruise to Neneh Cherry here.

This Is The End follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption. This soundtrack is missing Psy's Gangnam Style. The soundtrack would have worked better to have the Backstreet Boys song at the end of the album with Spirit in the sky 2nd last and I will always love you before that, as such in the movie. 8 people found this helpful.
