Carcass are an English extreme metal band from Liverpool, which was formed in 1985. The band have gone through several line-up changes, leaving guitarist Bill Steer and bassist and vocalist Jeff Walker as the only constant members. They broke up in 1996, but reformed in 2007 without one of its original members, drummer Ken Owen, due to health reasons. To date, the band have released six studio albums, two compilation albums, four EPs, two demo albums, one video album, and six music videos.

Carcass was first formed as a school band by Bill Steer and Ken Owen that soon after disbanded. Steer then joined the D-beat band Disattack with drummer Middie, Paul on bass and Pek on vocals. After releasing a four track demo entitled A Bomb Drops. in 1986, the bass player left the band and was replaced by Jeff. Walker, formerly guitarist and vocalist of the Electro Hippies.

It’s been five year’s since the mighty Carcass released 2013’s Surgical Steel. That record alone was the group’s first full-length offering since 1996’s Swansong. Does this mean we will see a new Carcass album sometime in 2019? We sure hope so!

Starting out as a three-piece, Carcass were one of Earache Records' grindcore flagship and had a huge impact on the birth of so-called goregrind style. The group debuted with the extremely lo-fi underground classic "Reek of Putrefaction", which the late BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel declared as his favourite album of 1988. With 1990's Symphonies Of Sickness the band developed the goregrind style further with the addition of improved production values.
