It's remarkable that Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill struck a sympathetic chord with millions of listeners, because it's so doggedly, determinedly insular. This, after all, plays like an emotional purging, prompted by a bitter relationship - and, according to all the lyrical hints, that's likely a record executive who took advantage of a young Alanis.

On 13th June 1995, Alanis Morissette released Jagged Little Pill. The album went on to sell over 30 million copies world-wide and made Morissette the first female Canadian to score a US number 1 album. It all happened so quickly. She lost to a singing cowboy named Chad. The two wrote and recorded Morissette’s first internationally released album, Jagged Little Pill, laying all the instruments down themselves as demos. By the spring of 1995, she had signed a deal with Maverick Records (of which Madonna is a co-founder), after every label they had approached had passed on the project. Alanis moved to . to record the tracks using session musicians.

Jagged Little Pill is the third studio album and international debut album by Canadian singer Alanis Morissette, first released on June 13, 1995, through Maverick Records. Morissette had released two successful albums in Canada, after which she left MCA Records Canada and was introduced to manager Scott Welch. Morissette began work on her next album after moving from her hometown, Ottawa, to Toronto; she did not make much progress until she traveled to Los Angeles, where she met Glen Ballard. Jagged Little Pill was recorded in Hollywood after Morissette relocated there and met with Glen Ballard. Morissette co-wrote the album solely with Glen Ballard, who also produced the album. The demo recording sessions started in 1994 at Ballard's home studio and included only Morissette and the producer, who recorded the songs as they were being written.

I’ll live through you I’ll make you what I never was If you’re the best, then maybe so am I Compared to him compared to her I’m doing this for your own damn good You’ll make up for what I blew What’s the proble. hy are you crying. Be a good boy Push a little farther now That wasn’t fast enough To make us happy We’ll love you just the way you are If you’re perfect.

Jagged Little Pill won Album of the Year at the 1996 Grammys when Morissette was just 21 years old, making the Canadian singer the youngest artist to take home the honor until Taylor Swift did so at age 20 in 2010. In 2005, Morissette put out an acoustic version of the record, which was sold exclusively through Starbucks’ Hear Music brand for six weeks beginning on the date of its 10th anniversary.

Jagged Little Pill is the third studio album (and the first to be released internationally) by Canadian singer Alanis Morissette. The album made a sharp turn in genre and style for Alanis from her previous dance pop sound. The album garnered great success, spending twelve non-consecutive weeks at number one on the .

Certainly a coupla good tracks (#2 in particular) of angry alternative chick rock that was so prevalent at the time, no doubt she appeals to a great many scorned and pissed-off women out there but I gotta admit that this wench's wailing becomes a little unbearable after a while, even if to some Ms. Morissette is God. Good tracks on their own but a whole album is too much for me... Credibility is added by the appearance of two Peppers, and she has certainly matured from her previous teeny-pop efforts.
