The 3 Sounds is an album by American pianist Gene Harris recorded in 1971 and released on the Blue Note label. Although it is titled after Harris' group The Three Sounds the album is usually recognised as a solo effort as none of the other original members of the group participated in the recording. They became "The Three Sounds" in 1957 when the saxophonist was dropped from the team when they moved to Washington, . The trio were 'discovered' by Lou Donaldson when they moved to New York City. They've worked for Nat Adderley (on Riverside) and then released 9 LPs when they signed on to Blue Note Records between 1958-62. Some Like It Modern (Album).
