Big Stuff" is a song by American singer Jean Knight. The song was recorded in 1970 at Malaco Studio in Jackson, Mississippi at the same session as "Groove Me" by King Floyd. Knight's single was released by Stax Records because of the persistence of Stax publisher Tim Whitsett, and "Groove Me" by King Floyd, which Whitsett strongly urged Malaco to release, also became a hit. Both songs are defined by two bar, off-beat bass lines and tight arrangements by Wardell Quezergue.

Originally released in 1971, Mr Big Stuff proves that Jean Knight's one-hit wonder status is scandalously unjust. That's not to underestimate the sheer brilliance of her most celebrated cut. The sassy, struttin' title track remains an R&B classic, with Knight's strident y the stinging retort "Who do you think you are?"-a provocative proclamation of feisty independence. The single certainly proved to be "big stuff". One of Stax's biggest hits, it topped the US R&B chart and just failed to scale the Billboard pop summit. I've always loved the Motown soul sound and remember Mr Big Stuff vaguely from childhood. The quality of music on this album is superb (even if several songs follow the same format). As the notes supplied with it say: - "Quezerque, a bespectacled Creole, had something of a track record in New Orleans.
