Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 1, LP: No Past. No Sun. (stylized in all caps) is the tenth studio album by the American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. The album was released on November 16, 2018 through Napalm Records. In early February 2018 it was announced that original members Jimmy Chamberlin and James Iha had rejoined the band, marking the first time since Machina II/The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music in 2000 that Iha has worked with the band.

On the 10th album under the Smashing Pumpkins name – eight tracks with no Silverfuck opuses, the leanest album-length statement Corgan’s ever made – it’s apparent that the magic of Smashing Pumpkins was maybe just a time, a place, a hungry generation and four paisley-clad Chicago kids that wanted something bigger than being the next Naked Raygun. No Sun. - a typically convoluted title that makes Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness as simple a title as Gish - Corgan reconnected with drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and revived the Smashing Pumpkins name for the metallic Zeitgeist, but the difference in 2018 is that guitarist James Iha is back in the fold (original bassist D'arcy Wretzky is estranged from. Brevity works in the Pumpkins' favor, as it becomes easy to appreciate how working with Iha and producer Rick Rubin has sharpened Corgan's attack, not just as a songwriter but as a record maker.
