Chris Squire was best known as the bassist and a founder member of the progressive rock band Yes. He was the longest-serving original member, having remained in the band until his death and appearing on every studio album released from 1969 to 2014. I would also imagine the selection of songs from the album was difficult, yet Sherwood does throw is a few curveballs. On the Silent Wings of Freedom, originally from 1978’s Tormato is a brilliant start to A Life in Yes. Since the master tapes of Tormato are missing, a Steven Wilson style remix is unlikely. This album is excellent and the musicians who contributed their immense talent are very respectful of the Squire touch. Kudos to all involved. Chris was such a friendly person who I had the pleasure of meeting on more than one occasion.

While his keyboard playing was very audible on the Alan Parsons Project albums, very few recordings feature his flute. He briefly returned to run Abbey Road Studios in its entirety. Parsons also continued with his selective production work for other bands. Of all his collaborators, guitarist Ian Bairnson worked with Parsons the longest, including Parsons' post-Project albums, Try Anything Once, On Air, and The Time Machine. In 1998, Parsons became Vice-President of EMI Studios Group, including the Abbey Road Studios. He soon left the post, deciding to return to more creative endeavours

This live album has a very good recording and mixing. The Alan Parsons Band included some former members of The Alan Parsons Project (Powell, Elliott,Bairnson). The "Project" word was not more in the name of the band because Eric Woolfson wasn& in the band anymore, and as Parsons thought that Woolfson was a very important part of that band, he called his new band "The Alan Parsons Band" (but my CD only says "Alan Parsons" in the cover). The live versions of the old "Project" songs are played very good. And this isn’t the very best of Alan Parsons’ music either, although it may in fact be his best live music. There are only two instrumentals ( Sirius and Lucifer ), neither of which is exactly the best of Parsons’ many instrumental works.
