I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" is a song recorded by American country music singer-songwriter Hank Williams in 1949. The song has been covered by a wide range of musicians. probably the saddest song I've ever heard. According to Colin Escott's 2004 book Hank Williams: A Biography, Williams was inspired to write the song when he found it on a schedule of upcoming MGM releases.
About I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.
drive Blue & Lonesome. At his least inspired, Jagger can sound like a man who isn’t singing so much as rearranging a well-worn series of mannerisms and tics, but here his vocals are extremely powerful and genuinely affecting, as if he’s digging deep within himself to find the emotions to fit the material. The sound is appealingly visceral and live: the guitars are spiky and slashing, the drums punch hard, everything – including Jagger’s voice – is coated with a thin, crisp layer of distortion, as if the band are playing at such volume and with such force that the microphones can’t quite take it.
However, the Stones’ new album is as introspective as we can expect them to get in 2016-even if it they are playing songs that are nearly as old as they are. Blue & Lonesome is a covers collection that pays tribute to the post-war Chicago blues that first got the Stones rolling and inspired their very name
As Keith Richards tells it, the Rolling Stones' first-ever all-blues album is the result of the band learning how to play in the unfamiliar surroundings of Mark Knopfler's British Grove Studios. To ease into the new place, the Stones decided to knock out a version of Little Walter's "Blue and Lonesome" and it sounded good enough that the band decided to cut a few more covers, winding up with a full album of Chicago blues in a few days.
The latest, Blue & Lonesome, was recorded in just three days, with little planning or overthinking. Granted, it's a covers album filled with the type of blues songs the band cut its teeth on more than 50 years ago, but that doesn't take away from its spitfire appeal. The Stones haven't made an album this virile in decades. It certainly helps that the core quartet (along with some help from friends like Eric Clapton and Chuck Leavell) sounds like its off the clock. You have to go all the way back to the mid-'60s for Stones performances this loose and friendly
The album came out of sessions that were supposed to be for an LP of Stones originals, still in its early stages. Jagger wondered whether they should wait to get that one finished, maybe release them together. But then again, the last time the Stones managed to finish a studio album was back in 2005, with A Bigger Bang. ’We might as well put this one ou. I don’t blame ’em. I probably would have done the same thing
Lonesome Road has been pleasing crowds since 1997, and the band continues today with the same four. CommunitySee All. 881 people like this. 889 people follow this. AboutSee All. ww. rband.
