Frankly, an a piano trio this group easily competes with the best of them, including anything Red Garland, The Three Sounds or other popular piano trios were recording at the time. Individually, each musician was world class. While some may quibble over which pianist from that era was the top, I think most would agree that Kelly was somewhere in that group, with Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones in an even more solid standing among bassists and drummers.
