Squeeze is the self-titled debut album released by British group Squeeze. The album title was simply Squeeze in the United Kingdom, but in the United States, Canada, Australia and other countries the album, like the band, was marketed under the name . Squeeze to avoid confusion with similarly-named American and Australian groups. The LP was produced by John Cale, except for "Take Me I'm Yours" and "Bang Bang" (also the only singles released from the LP). Those songs were produced by the band.
Squeeze - Goodbye Girl. Album: Live At the Fillmore, 2012. Released in November 1978, it was the first single from their second album "Cool For Cats" which was released in March 1979. The lyric and arrangement is slightly different to the album version. I heard this played on the radio the other day and it was described by the DJ as "the Squeeze classic". I wonder how many other singles can be described as "classics" and yet only make 63 in the charts

Squeeze – Goodbye Girl Lyrics. from album: Cool For Cats (1979). I met her in a poolroom Her name I didn't catch She looked like something special The kind who'd understand The room was almost spinning She pulled another smile She had the grace like pleasure She had a certain style. Sunlight on the lino Woke me with a shake I looked around to find her but she'd gone Goodbye girl Goodbye girl Goodbye girl
Released in November 1978, it was the first single from their second album "Cool For Cats" which was released in March 1979. I wonder how many other singles can be described as "classics" and yet only make 63 in the charts. Coming to think of it, how many singles that made such a lowly chart position can you remember?
Goodbye Girl" was the first single released from Squeeze's second album Cool for Cats.
