Don't Stop" is a song by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, written by vocalist and keyboard player Christine McVie. Sung by guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and McVie, it was a single taken from the band's 1977 hit album, Rumours. It is one of the band's most enduring hits, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard singles chart

The album was going to be called "Yesterday's Gone," after a line in this song. Bill Clinton used this as his theme song when he successfully ran for US president in 1992. He was the first baby boomer president, and he knew Fleetwood Mac would appeal to a lot of voters in this demographic. There was some subtext to this pairing of song and politician: Clinton was a known philanderer, and had been through some rough. When Bill Clinton won the presidential election, Fleetwood Mac was thrust back into the spotlight because his campaign had used this song at every opportunity. At this time, the band was fractured, with Lindsey Buckingham out of the lineup since 1987 and Stevie Nicks out since 1991.

Fleetwood Mac. Produced by Ken Caillat, Richard Dashut & Fleetwood Mac. Album Rumours. Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow Don’t stop, it’ll soon be here It’ll be better than before Yesterday’s gone, yesterday’s gone. All I want is to see you smile If it takes just a little while I know you don’t believe that it’s true I never meant any harm to you.

50 Years - Don't Stop. 50 YEARS-DON’T STOP also highlights the talented musicians who have recorded under the Fleetwood Mac banner over the years, including Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremey Spencer, John McVie, Danny Kirwan, Christine McVie, Bob Welch, Bob Weston, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Billy Burnette, Rick Vito, Dave Mason, and Bekka Bramlett. The Fleetwood Mac of 1977 bares next to no resemblance to the Mac of 1967. If you are a long time fan of the band and already own everything, you could probably skip this, however the remastering makes these songs sound better than ever. Throw in the single mixes and it’s a keeper.

If you wake up and don't want to smile If it takes just a little while Open your eyes and look at the day You'll see things in a different way. Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow Don't stop, it'll soon be here It'll be, better than before Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone

50 Years: Don’t Stop is not a comprehensive collection (how could three CDs represent the work of a band who’ve released 17 albums?), and, unsurprisingly, is heavily weighted towards the very big hits, but it’s a useful beginner’s guide to an extraordinary band. Fleetwood Mac are a group whose internal chaos and constant dissolution and re-formation are, bizarrely, the reason they’re still together. Classic Rock Newsletter. More from Classic Rock.
