Morcheeba, the "real" Morcheeba, returns after years without the incredible vocals from its lead singer, Skye Edwards. Finally, the group is back! But whatever you do, don't expect them to be resting on their laurels. The new album, "Blood Like Lemonade" is much less trip-hop and much more chill-out! On this album, stronger rhythms have been replaced by ethereal vocals, delicate gossamer-like sitar and slide guitar, and pervasive themes of blood, vitae and spirit. For most "old school" Morcheeba fans this might be too much of a shock to bear.

Morcheeba's fourth album Charango (2002) saw an increasingly modest role for Edwards in the band and was followed by an extensive tour of the . In 2003 The Godfrey brothers announced the band’s separation, during which time the greatest hit compilation Parts of the Process and the live DVD Morcheeba: From Brixton to Beijing kept the Morcheeba flame burning bright. Morcheeba’s sixth studio album saw a return of the Godfrey brothers as producers who enlisted the help of five vocalists to perform on 2008's Dive Deep including Judie Tzuke and Thomas Dybdahl. Edwards and Morcheeba had remained on the same management company, which in 2009 led to their chance meeting and before long Edwards’ return. The atmosphere evoked by their music was very chill and mellow. Skye was so incredibly sexy and gorgeous dancing around in a elegant red dress.

On their second album, though, Morcheeba preserved the style's sedate tempos and sultry atmospheres while opening up a world of warmth and colour. Hip-hop beats and turntable scratches are fleshed out with acoustic guitars, country blues, a splash of reggae and even sitar, while singer Skye Edwards holds the spotlight with her hushed, soulful delivery. As the cover art underscores, it's best heard in a horizontal position.
