The Muppets Take Manhattan is a 1984 American musical comedy drama film directed by Frank Oz. It is the third of a series of live-action musical feature films starring Jim Henson's Muppets with special appearances by Art Carney, James Coco, Dabney Coleman, Gregory Hines, Linda Lavin, Liza Minnelli and Joan Rivers. The film was produced by Henson Associates and TriStar Pictures, and was filmed on location in New York City during the summer of 1983 and released theatrically the following summer

Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and the rest of the Muppets have graduated from Danhurst College by entertaining their fellow graduates with their theatrical production of Manhattan Melodies.

At a time when motion picture musicals were nearly unheard of, Jim Henson and Frank Oz continued their tradition of putting on a good show with The Muppets Take Manhattan. Aside from the deliciously entertaining story line, the film featured terrific, unforgettable music and lyrics by Jeff Moss. Together Again" is a Broadway inspired introduction by the classic Muppet gang.

As the film opens, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and their friends are graduating from college and are performing in a variety show, Manhattan Melodies, on campus ("Together Again"). Miss Piggy, in particular, hopes to make enough money to marry Kermit as he has promised.

After graduating college, the Muppets travel to Manhattan to have someone produce their musical "Manhattan Melodies". When it doesn't happen, the gang splits up. Kermit makes friends with Jenny, and Miss Piggy is jealous, thinking that Kermit found a new girlfriend. Now Rowlf is a vet secretary, Fozzie's living in a cave, and Miss Piggy is working at a hotel with her partner, but apparently they get fired, and now Miss Piggy lives next door to where Kermit works at Pete's with Jenny. When Jenny and Kermit find Ronny Coleman, he promises to produce.
