The Celtic pantheon is known from a variety of sources such as written Celtic mythology, ancient places of worship, statues, engravings, religious objects, and place or personal names. Celtic deities can belong to two categories: general deities and local deities. General deities" were known by Celts throughout large regions, and are the gods and goddesses invoked for protection, healing, luck, and honour.

Salting the earth, or sowing with salt, is the ritual of spreading salt on conquered cities to symbolize a curse on their re-inhabitation. It originated as a symbolic practice in the ancient Near East and became a well-established folkloric motif in the Middle Ages. Contrary to popular belief, using salt in this way would not have been a practical method of rendering an area unfit for crop production due to the very large quantity of salt required.

After 25 years, The Celtic Fiddlers has become one of Newfoundland’s icons in traditional vocal and instrumental music.

Studio album by Ricky Skaggs and The Whites. Banjo players often use the three-finger picking style made popular by such as Don Reno. Fiddlers frequently play in thirds and fifths, producing a sound that is characteristic to the bluegrass style, bassists almost always play pizzicato, occasionally adopting the slap-style to accentuate the beat. A bluegrass bass line is generally a rhythmic alternation between the tonic and dominant of each chord, with walking bass excursions.

Salt of the Earth is the second album by the Washington, . 5 References Track listing. Side A. "I Rolled It You Hold It" (John Buchanan) – 4:38. Blow Your Whistle" (Maxx Kidd, Chuck Brown) – 3:01. Salt of the Earth is not about experimentation though, it's about tradition. These are all simple tales of faith and conviction, using the basic acoustic instrumentation of guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and bass. Nothing electric, nothing noisy, just wood and strings. But not surprisingly it's the vocal harmonies that dominate the proceedings throughout. Lead vocals are taken by each of the four, and the tight harmonies that have brightened all of the Whites' previous efforts are in ample supply here.
