Leprosy is the second studio album by American death metal band Death, released on August 12, 1988, by Combat Records. Notably different in tone and quality from the 1987 debut, it is the first example of Scott Burns' work heard on many of the death metal and grindcore albums of that era. The cover is featured in Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. It is the first album to feature drummer Bill Andrews and the only one to feature guitarist Rick Rozz.

Here’s a classic Death album Leprosy. Oh, I think it’s the first death metal album which I’ve ever heard and it was 25-26 years ago or something like that. You can imagine how many times have I listened it since then. Hundreds? I know every riffs, every vocals line – this album has no secrets before me anymore. This is a reason why I don’t play it so often these days and I prefer to put something new instead (like Gruesome or Skeletal Remains), because I don’t feel this excitement when I hear Leprosy anymore

So yeah, Death's Leprosy is a great piece of death metal, but the thing that keeps me away from replaying it are the drums, and it pains me to see how much they wrecked what would have been a near-perfect death metal album. Leprosy could have been great, but Bill Andrews had to bring it down.
Leprosy is the second full-length record from legendary death metal pioneers Death, released on November 16th of 1988. Everything about this record shows improvement over the group’s last effort, Scream Bloody Gore. The overall quality of production, mixing and mastering, lyricism, and musicianship have dramatically improved in only about a year and a half. It was recorded at Morrisound Record in Tampa, Florida, and mastered at Fullersound in Miami, Florida.
