Eventually Eva O contributed to the band's 1982 album Only Theatre of Pain, which was a highly influential album on the emerging American deathrock movement. The Super Heroines released several albums, and when Rikk Agnew left Christian Death, Rozz asked Eva to fill in on guitar. She was in Christian Death for a short time before they added two more members, one of whom later played some shows with the Super Heroines. In the mid-1980s, Eva became involved with personal demons and a strong distaste for the world. She spent a lot of time with Richard Ramirez, with whom she claims she was in a relationship. She corresponded with him after his incarceration for a brief time, but did not meet him before his notorious killings made him famous.

Era
The Story Of 'O'? The album opens with one track from SUPER HEROINES, showing her voice off against a kind of poppy Punk-paced, Punk-toned track - not bad, bright and colourful. The guitarist has a touch of the MAGAZINEs to certain aspects of her playing. We then get three tracks of her solo act. She likes her drama, and has the right voice for it. "Opened and Drained" has a certain creepy charm with loads of Industrial-sounding tricks and turns, a slow pondering piece, with moments of almost JOHN BARRY drama. "Backsliding" too has a curious quality to it with it's fx'd off-key sequencing and weird music box quality. The SPEED QUEENS tracks are pretty much the most primitive material here - very much a collection of Garage Punk which could have been recorded at The Roxy in '77. The closing three are taken from EVA's days with CHRISTIAN DEATH. And while I've only recently been introduced to their sound, this I imagine is one of their earliest incarnations. Very Punk, although the rough quality of live recording probably adds to that impression. Not sure what to make of this. It's probably intended as a 'rare tracks' album and therefore collectable for that reason alone. Or maybe it's a sampler for you to choose which aspect of EVA O's career you'd be best investigating. Or perhaps it's just a cash in. I'm undecided, but it hasn't convinced me I should turn this office into a shrine to the singer. Originally reviewed for Soft Watch.
