Dollars In Drag" was made up of material from Bowie's "1980 Floor Show" and three songs from his Arnold Corns period, "Hang On To Yourself", "Supermen" and "Man In The Middle".
1973 David Bowie with Marianne Faithfull on The Midnight Special, released on the bootleg Dollars In Drag: The 1980 Floor Show. 1989 Madonna and Sandra Bernhard sang the song on May 24, 1989 during the 'Don’t Bungle The Jungle' benefit concert to raise money and awareness for preserving the world’s rain forests. 1998 - Merril Bainbridge & Shaggy - I Go You Babe. 2004 Avid Merrion, along with Patsy Kensit and Davina McCall, released a Christmas single which reached number 5 in the UK charts.
Prior to the filming of the very first number, Bowie strode on stage, beamed at the audience and said in a broad South London accent "And what have you lot been up to?" and told them that he was "out of condition". The first song to be filmed was "Everything's Alright" from the Pinups (1973) album. Bowies costume for this number was bright yellow trousers, a purple satin top, black leather jacket and high-heeled boots. All of the costumes for the show were designed by Bowie and old friend Freddie Burretti . 1980 Floor Show bootleg LP "Dollars in Drag". -This page last modified: 11 Dec 2018
The 1980 Floor Show (a pun on the song "1984" - 19-Eighty-Floor) was the first appearance of David Bowie since his much publicised retirement on 3 July 1973 at the Hammersmith Odeon. It was also to be his last appearance as "Ziggy Stardust". The show itself was a spectacular stage production that was filmed over 3 days, mostly at The Marquee Club, Soho, London for the American NBC TV late night show The Midnight Special. The idea for the show came when Bowie was approached by Burt Sugarman to create something for The Midnight Special rock series

Bowie outdid himself spectacle-wise for his American TV special The 1980 Floor Show. For the big finale, he donned a red vinyl corset with black feathers to sing a Sonny and Cher duet with Marianne Faithfull, who was dressed as a nun. As Bowie recalled, "Because of her convent background, I felt Marianne would carry the moment superbly as a nun, albeit without a back panel to her habit, revealing her splendid arse. An absurdly wasted-looking Bowie visits the talk show to introduce his new soul band. He also sits down for a chat, sniffling, twirling his cane and mumbling incoherent coke babble at his terrified host. He revs up the R&B oldie "Footstompin'" with a fierce dance cameo from girlfriend Ava Cherry – though she seems like a bit of a workout for a man in Bowie's condition.
A bootleg record of The 1980 Floor Show was released in 1974, called Dollars In Drag - The 1980 Floor Show, by The Amazing Kornyphone Record Label (ASIN: B00RC7WEEO)
