Colin Newman - A - Z album flac

A–Z is the debut studio album by Colin Newman, lead singer for post-punk band Wire. It was released in October 1980, through record label Beggars Banquet. A–Z has been well received. Jason Parkes of Head Heritage wrote that it was "probably the best album between the first and second phases of Wire".

Though it doesn't quite have the all-encompassing range of the connotative title, Colin Newman's first solo record features the wildly imaginative streak that makes Wire's first three records so endlessly exciting. In fact, A-Z was supposed to be his band's fourth record, but their label saw things differently. With Wire drummer Robert Gotobed on board and associate/producer Mike Thorne lending his keyboard skills, it doesn't sound far removed from an early Wire record at all. The absence of Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis doesn't impair Newman in the least.

Consumer Guide Album. Colin Newman: A-Z Projected and rejected as the fourth Wire album, it would have been the right step only if you consider noise uncouth. Producer Mike Thorne's keyboards are indeed all over the place, but rather than laying down the trancy gloss of 154, they do what they can do to rub a body the wrong way, just like Newman's guitar. Leading me to suspect that the absent Graham Lewis is Wire's new-waving fifth columnist. Of course, Lewis also probably contributes the catchy stuff-where on Pink Flag you remember.

The Colin Newman reissues are simply AMAZING!! The music has never sounded better and the BONUS disc of demo recordings and outtakes are jaw dropping. The bonus disc alone is worth the price of admission. A-Z is, in my opinion, Colin Newman's best, most creative work. From the pensive, monotone "Alone" (this was indeed the version featured in "The Silence of the Lambs") to the eccentric "B," all of the titles on this album are masterful, brilliant creations of aural beauty.
