AMON D��L II (or AMON D��L 2) was born of an artistic and political community called AMON D��L (which recorded during the late sixties a long live session made around collective and free musical improvisations). The band emerged from the underground German rock scene with a very original and eccentric album called "Phallus Dei" (1969).

Amon Düül II (or Amon Düül 2) is a German rock band. The group is generally considered to be one of the founders of the Krautrock scene and a seminal influence on its development. The band emerged from the radical West German commune scene of the late 1960s, with others in the same commune including some of the future founders of the Red Army Faction.

Amon Duul II has always been one of the top experimental rock bands of the 70's. Maybe I should put the word "lost" in there somewhere since the band was never exactly popular in North America, but oh well. At least over time people have done the right thing and brought this band into the light (outside of Germany). Another great album by a classic band. It should be a given by this point that Amon Duul II is a MUST for those seeking experimental rock artists from the 70's.
