Love Is Hell is the fifth studio album by alternative country artist Ryan Adams, released on May 4, 2004. The album was originally released as two EPs, Love Is Hell pt. 1 and Love Is Hell pt. 2, at the insistence of Lost Highway, who deemed that the album was not commercially viable. A full-length version of the album was released when the EPs proved to be more of a commercial success than anticipated. The Oasis cover, "Wonderwall", was released as a single in the UK on June 28, 2004.
As Love Is Hell, Pt. 1 resoundingly proves, Adams is at his finest when he sticks to the subject matter he knows best: broken hearts and bar fights. Given this, it's no shock that the highlight of this entire project comes with the Dylanesque Beth Orton kiss-off "English Girls Approximately". Appearing halfway into Love Is Hell, Pt. 2, the song is classic Adams, brimming with his smug wit (sample lyric: "You said you didn't love me, it was right on time/ I was just about to tell you, but ok, alright") and unabashed, acoustic guitar-driven ecstasy.

A month after the first volume of his long-delayed, split-in-two Love Is Hell project hit the stores - think of it as the aural equivalent of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, only not as fun and not shot in ShawScope - Ryan Adams trotted out the sequel, a seven-song EP that presents the conclusion to his mope-rock labor of love.
Love Is Hell" lyrics. There's strange weather in the back of the room And she's pretty, Jesse's spinning the tunes Eyelashes, and some white leather boots God, what have I been drinking? I could be serious but I'm just kiddin' around I could be anything, anything but sticking around Love is hell Love is hell Love i. .
Ryan Adams' albums have run the spectrum of music to date. He's shown a breath of vocal, lyrical, and musical talent but the quality has been spotty at times. Love is Hell" is his best album yet. A solid 5 out of 5 that any music lover can find enjoyment in. At times blues, at times rock, at times country, always hauntingly beautiful. Anybody take me home", " English Girls", and "Chelesa Nights" are standouts and his cover of Oasis' "Wonderwall" is amazing.
