Don't Give Up" is a song written by English musician Peter Gabriel and recorded as a duet with Kate Bush for Gabriel's fifth solo studio album So (1986). It spent eleven weeks in the UK Top 75 chart in 1986, peaking at #9.
Don’t Give Up Lyrics. In this proud land we grew up strong We were wanted all along I was taught to fight, taught to win I never thought I could fail No fight left or so it seems I am a man whose dreams have all deserted I've changed my face, I've changed my name But no one wants you when. Don't give up, you still have us Don't give up, we don't need much of anything Don't give up, 'cause somewhere there's a place where we belong. Don’t Give Up is the fifth single released from Peter Gabriel’s 1986 album So. The song is a duet with Kate Bush, who’d sang backup on Gabriel’s third album, commonly known as Melt. Peter Gabriel’s original choice for the duet was Dolly Parton, who turned the offer down. The song is inspired by the Depression-era photography of Dorothea Lange.
I consider "Don& Give Up" as one of Peter Gabriel& best songs, and this song has one of the best lyrics he has written. The lyrics talk about unemployment, and this theme is very well treated with very human lyrics about how a man tries to resolve this situation in his life supported by his wife and family. There is a live versionof "In Your Eyes" from the "PoV" live concert video which is great, recorded in Athens in October 1987.

Budoshi from Sandnessjøen, NorwayThe Peter Gabriel/Kate Bush-version is my favourite. Brad from Long Island, Nyabout Melanie Gabriel, she also sings "Down Side Up" with him, and they strap themselves into a harness and literally walk upside down on catwalk above the stage while singing. Typical theatrics of any Gabriel show which are always excellent.
