End of the Century is the fifth studio album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, released on February 4, 1980, through Sire Records. The album was the band's first produced by Phil Spector, though he had offered the band his assistance earlier in their career. With Spector fully producing the album, it was the first release that excluded original member Tommy Ramone, who in 1978 left the band but produced their previous album Road to Ruin.
End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones. End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones is a 2003 documentary film about highly influential New York punk rock band the Ramones. The film, produced and directed by Jim Fields and Michael Gramaglia, documents the band's history from their formation in the early 1970s and 22 subsequent years of touring, to their 1996 breakup and the deaths of two of the four original members
Filmmaker Michael Gramaglia’s years-in-the-making biography of the legendary punk band the Ramones entitled End of the Century traces nearly all the various and sundry peaks and valleys which the seminal rockers experienced over the course of its 20-plus year career before disbanding in 1995. Beginning with the band’s first concert performances in the mid-’70s, Gramaglia explores the eccentric and highly volatile band members - in all the various line-ups that were presented over the years - as the Ramones slowly gained fame for their high energy and high-tempo style of music that would later.
For fans of the feature documentary "End of the Century: the Story of the Ramones". It’s debatable whether the Ramones, whose self-titled debut album came out 40 years ago this month, on April 23, 1976, invented punk rock. But there’s no question that the Queens band defined the . ypost.
Tracks 1-12: originally from "End Of The Century" Sire (2/80). at Gold Star Studios, Excalibur Studios, Devonshire Sound Studios, Salty Dog Studios & Original Sound Studios. Track 13: first issued on Rock N' Roll High School, Sire. Tracks 14 to 18: previously unissued. Recorded at Sire Studio, NYC (4/19/79). Track 19 is a radio commercial for the album, not mentioned on the release. Remastering at Digiprep in Rhinophonic "Authentic Sound". ASCAP), Taco Tunes, Inc. (ASCAP). With the passing of all the non-drummer members of the band in the past few years - the band retired in 1996 after over 2200 shows - some notice had been paid to their legacy, but nothing as comprehensive as the documentary End of the Century. The Clash's first single, "White Riot," was so derivative of the Ramones it somewhat annoyed them. Young Dee Dee Ramone.
End of the Century unveils the tale behind the Ramones’ wall of sound and enigma, from faux hoods storming out of Queens to save rock ‘n’ roll to estranged inductees into its Hall of Fame. Archival footage from early shows at CBGB and London’s Roundhouse (one of those legendary ed-a-band affairs) and fond tributes from peers/fans like Debbie Harry, Joe Strummer, and Thurston Moore pump life into the backstory anecdotes.
One of these items ships sooner than the other. Love this album but the version of Rock 'n' Roll High School is NOT the Phil Spector version but, disappointingly, the Ed Stasium version. It's ALMOST End of the Century, only with one wrong version of one song.
