Lee Mack Ritenour (born January 11, 1952) is an American jazz guitarist who has been active since the late 1960s. Ritenour was born on January 11, 1952 in Los Angeles, California. At the age of eight he started playing guitar and four years later decided on a career in music. When he was 16 he played on his first recording session with the Mamas & the Papas. He developed a love for jazz and was influenced by guitarist Wes Montgomery. At the age of 17 he worked with Lena Horne and Tony Bennett

LEE RITENOUR (Guitarist): The project was recorded last year in Los Angeles with a small audience around us. And I was able to do a project, and it was a fairly large undertaking that encompassed 17 guest musicians and the CD has 73 minutes worth of music. So it's chock-full of stuff all the way from the beginning of my musical solo career in the '70s all the way to the current. Mr. RITENOUR: I think after doing the "Overtime" CD, I'm really excited about composing more new music. So I'm kind of looking forward to doing the next solo Ritenour project. GORDON: And when would that be expected?

Lee Ritenour: Overtime by Woodrow Wilkins, published on September 1, 2005 at All About Jazz. Find more Interviews articles. In his three decades as a solo artist, guitarist Lee Ritenour has covered a lot of territory. While cranking out one excellent album after another as a frontman, he's also found time to sit in as a guest with other artists and even spent a few years as a member of the supergroup, Fourplay. Among those he has recorded or performed with are Maynard Ferguson, David Sanborn, the Brothers Johnson (remember "Strawberry Letter 23 ?), Djavan, Kenny G, the Mamas and the Papas, Lena Horne and Tony Bennett. Rit's latest release is a fresh delivery of some his classic material.
