Berlioz: La damnation de Faust. Have not heard the Solti/CSO version from Decca - have hear some extended excepts from it and was not impressed. Top choices for someone looking for a recording of this strange work - Dutoit, Ozawa, or Markevitch. Colin Davis if you must. 3 people found this helpful. The performance, on the other hand, is magnificent; with the London Symphony Orchestra and LSO Chorus, Regine Crespin, soprano, Andre Turp, tenor, and Michell Roux, baritone (apparently, John Shirley-Quirk also had a role). High marks for everyone.
