Artist: Little Richard Title: The Specialty Sessions Year Of Release: 1989 Label: Ace Genre: Rock 'n' Roll, Rhythm and blues, Soul Quality: FLAC (image+. For the hardcore Little Richard fan - the kind that has to hear every recording the architect of rock & roll ever made - there's little question that Ace's Specialty Box Set is the motherlode. Spanning six discs and over a hundred tracks, this is for serious listeners. Since Specialty's condensed, three-disc version.
Richard Wayne Penniman (born December 5, 1932), known by the stage name Little Richard, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, recording artist, and actor, considered key in the transition from rhythm and blues to rock and roll in the mid-1950s. The Specialty Sessions Album.
Not that some of the other recordings don't have merit, but the Specialty versions are the ones that helped shape rock & roll. This three-disc box set includes everything the artist recorded for the label, which means the hits in addition to alternate takes and just plain nonhits. Historians will find this collection (including several songs in development) fascinating, but more frugal fans may find five versions of "Slippin' and Slidin'" excessive.
