The Adventures of Ford Fairlane is a 1990 American action comedy mystery film directed by Renny Harlin and written by David Arnott, James Cappe, and Daniel Waters based on a story by Arnott and Cappe. True to his name, Ford drives a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner in the film.

After seven sprightly minutes of concertos, the soundtrack slams to an intriguing halt with the start of Ferrari’s Didascalies. It begins with the quietest of violas, so low that the notes are hardly discernible for the first half. In his own analysis, Ferrari wrote that he incorporated son mémorisé ( Memorized Sound ) into Didascalies, a technique that involved the late composer recreating sounds from his natural environment by memory.

The songs move at a pretty, slow place, and the opening track sees Cooder plucking his guitar's strings and letting that sound vibrate into thin air; it's a motif that he returns to repeatedly throughout the score
