For the most part, it has the same skeletal, spacious, and jazzy metronome balladry that dominated Pieces of 8 and Long Red Ladder, only much more minimal. Entrance & Illumination" is pretty; the violin chorus of "Mr. Negative" is remarkably effective; and "Surfing the Volcano" is gorgeous and immersive.
