Ex:Re means ‘Regarding Ex’. But I also wanted to play with the words. The way of communicating with people when you’re very far away. Opening with the last song on album, My heart and seamlessly transitioning into the heavy, sorrowful notes of the opening song Where the time went, Ex:Re had us all under her incantation. What followed was a passionate performance of the rest of the album, of which, The dazzler was particularly captivating, finishing with Elena harmonising with Josephine's vocals perfectly.

Serving songs that feel cheap and generic, I did not quite enjoy this album. Translating sadness into sound is something tricky and something that requires a lot of skill. The end result feels like a first draft that needed some more finetuning, the writing and sound needed some more depth.

Ex:Re is a confusing album. Elena Tonra's solo effort is a charming and fascinating riddle that will remain unsolved for many. It's like that joke that no one really knows if it's ok to laugh or it would be more appropriate to look away and pretend it never happened. After Daughter’s last official album, we made a soundtrack, and started renting a space to do that in, but we really liked having our own studio. So after the soundtrack was finished, we kept renting it for a while
