What is Spectre Folk? That’s a good one. I came up with the name for a 7 I self released back in 1999: Home School b/w the Dirt Porch but it was m. .When I moved to Brooklyn from Louisville about 10 years ago I decided to resurrect the Spectre Folk brand. I’d been doing Virgin Eye Blood Bros. and Valley of Ashes with Kris Abplanalp and Co. for a few years and I was gonna use this as some sort of solo/natural progression of this stuff who’s gone on to make some excellent records with Steve Gunn, and my wife Julie Tomlinson on synth. We even did a tour of England with Mick Flower (who’s name should speak for itself) on 2nd guitar.

LP (12" album, 33 rpm). SPECTRE FOLK (Artist) Format: Vinyl. The album features musical assistance from prime players including Aaron Mullan (Tall Firs/Hallogallo), Mark Ibold (Pavement/Dustdevils), Peter Meehan (Lucky Peach zine) and Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth). Vol. 4 evokes history and journeys, both in leader Nolan's travelogues of places and experiences around the world, and in the band's reverential nods to musical history/tips of the hat to psych-swirlers of the past.
