Wonderful Wonderful is the second album by American pop singer Johnny Mathis that was released on July 8, 1957, on the Columbia Records label but does not include his hit song of the same name or any of his songs that were released as singles that year.
Mathis's first record album, Johnny Mathis: A New Sound In Popular Song, was a slow-selling jazz album, but Mathis stayed in New York City to sing in nightclubs. His second album was produced by Columbia Records vice-president and record producer Mitch Miller, who helped to define the Mathis sound. Miller preferred that Mathis sing soft, romantic ballads, pairing him up with conductor and music arranger Ray Conniff, and later, Ray Ellis, Glenn Osser, and Robert Mersey . The Wonderful World of Make Believe.
The album debuted on Billboard magazine's Top LP's chart in the issue dated July 25, 1964, and reached number 75 during its 10 weeks there. This project was released on compact disc for the first time as one of two albums in a two-CD set by Sony Music Entertainment on August 28, 2012, the other album being Mathis's previous studio LP, Tender Is the Night. And I say to myself It's wonderful, wonderful O. O. Johnny Mathis - Misty
The Wonderful World of Make-Believe (1964). Mathis – as comfortable with R&B as with the Great American Songbook – also embarked on adventurous collaborations with Thom Bell of Spinners and Stylistics fame, and even disco legends CHIC, on an album that still remains unreleased except for a few songs. He’s still a prolific recording and touring artist today, with no signs of slowing down
