Morton Gould (December 10, 1913 – February 21, 1996) was an American composer, conductor, arranger, and pianist. Morton Gould was born in Richmond Hill, New York. He was recognized early as a child prodigy with abilities in improvisation and composition. His first composition was published at age six. Gould studied at the Institute of Musical Art in New York, his most important teachers were Abby Whiteside and Vincent Jones.

Air Education and Training Command (AETC) was established 1 July 1993, with the realignment of Air Training Command and Air University. Air Force's ten major commands and reports to Headquarters, United States Air Force. AETC is headquartered at Randolph Air Force Base, Joint Base San Antonio Texas. AETC is the primary training and professional education command in the Air Force.

The Marine Corps Training and Education Command (TECOM) is the primary training command of the United States Marine Corps. There are two major commands that fall under TECOM – the Education Command and the Training Command. Training command has control over all of the training throughout the Marine Corps, including Officer Candidate School and the various formal schools that train Marines throughout the world. Some of the major units within Training Command are: Officer Candidate School.

The Concert Band recorded the opening and third movements of the Nelhýbel Concerto for Winds and Percussion as an important tribute to, and documentation of Václav Nelhýbel's close association to the West Point Band.

Morton Gould is not remembered by many these days. In the late 1950's he was the in house conductor and arranger for many RCA Victor Living Stereo LPs in those early golden years of two speakers in the living room. But Mr. Gould was also a Pulitzer Prize composer and Grammy winning recording artist. Benny Goodman's rendition of the Nielsen Clarinet Concerto is a camp classic, he plays it like nobody else, and I don't mean it as a compliment. I've long thought that, great a jazz player as he was, he was greatly overrated as a classical player. Astonishingly, he really didn't have the technique for the Nielsen; there's lots of tempo by convenience.
