Album Sunshine Superman. Sunshine Superman Lyrics. Sunshine came softly through my a-window today Could've tripped out easy a-but I've a-changed my ways It'll take time, I know it but in a while You're gonna be mine, I know it, we'll do it in style Cause I made my mind up you're going to be mine. I'll tell you right now Any trick in the book now, baby, all that I can find Everybody's hustlin' just to have a little scene When I say we'll be cool I think that you know what I mean We stood on a beach at sunset, do you remember when?
Sunshine Superman (LP, Album, Unofficial, Ora). While the album is a bit of a time capsule now, and the lesser songs have been bleached by the sun and almost totally forgotten, there are a number of tracks found here that can not be denied, and still call for a fresh listen every now and then. Album · 1966 · 10 Songs. Sunshine Superman marks the opening of Donovan’s psychedelic period-and, boy, did he come out with his kaleidoscopes a-twirling. The anchors are the title cut, one of the era’s most imaginative high-key pop anthems, and Season of the Witch, a minimalist bluesy workout featuring a young Jimmy Page’s distinctively droning fretwork. The medieval-sounding Guinevere and Legend of a Girl Child Linda reflect Donovan’s charming knack for Arthurian whimsy over sonic wizard Mickie Most’s rich, ageless production. Sunshine Superman Donovan.
The rest of Sunshine Superman is filled with lengthy, abstract, repetitive folk jams, perfect for lazy summer afternoons, but more problematic when close attention is paid. Accompanied by acoustic guitar and a chamber quartet, the second track, "Legend of a Girl Child Linda," plods on for nearly seven minutes, Donovan's hippie-dippie delivery rendering "lace" into "layyyzzz.
Sunshine Superman" reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, and subsequently became the title track of Donovan's third album, Sunshine Superman. A different mix of "The Trip" (without harmonica) is also included in the album . Spirit of the West covered the song for the 1992 Donovan tribute album Island of Circles Seattle band Telekinesis performed a version of the song in July 2013 for The .
Donovan's producer Mickie Most told him not to play the Sunshine Superman album to Paul McCartney under any circumstances, because he knew McCartney would be tempted to do something similar. Donovan recalled to Uncut magazine: "My arse was being sued by Pye after Sunshine Superman so, my masterwork, sat on the shelves for seven months. If you date it, it was at least a year and a half before Sgt Pepper and I remember Mickie saying to me, 'Don't play it to McCartney' but of course everybody was sharing with everyone else and nicking from each other.
