A handful of further singles culled from the album, Cherry Pie Guy, Dial L for the Love Squad, and Mama's Little Corner of the World, failed to spark, and it seemed that Carr was already headed for commercial relegation. Cherry Pie Guy. 9 tracks. Linda Carr is an American soul singer. Before going solo, she was a backing singer for James Brown, replacing Tammi Terrell. She and her band Linda Carr & The Love Squad had a UK Top 20 1975 hit with "Highwire", released on the 12th July and peaking at Number 15 on the 16th August in the UK. She released a follow-up single called "Cherry Pie Guy" but it failed to chart.
