Traffic (Traffic album). 1968 studio album by Traffic. Traffic Track listing and personnel.

Steve Winwood is the debut solo studio album by blue-eyed soulster Steve Winwood. It was released in 1977, three years after the break-up of his former band, Traffic. Though the album sold moderately well in the US, it was a commercial disappointment compared to Traffic's recent albums, peaking at number 22 on the Billboard 200 album chart. In the UK, however, while Traffic's recent albums had only been moderately successful, Steve Winwood reached number 12 on The Official Charts.

Steve Winwood is one of the true icons of classic rock. He joined Spencer Davis Group at age 14. They recorded one of their stellar songs, Gimme Some Lovin' when Steve was only 18. Then he helped to formed Blind Faith, and Traffic. Debut album aside, I found much of Winwood's solo stuff a bit too glossy for my liking but that is no reflection on my admiration of him as a player, singer and writer - he is without doubt one of the finest rock talents that the UK has produced a violator of his word, a libertine over head and ears in debt and disgrace, a despiser of domestic ties, the companion of gamblers and demireps, a man who has just closed half a century without a single claim on the gratitude of his country or the respect of posterity.

Winwood opened up his fourth solo album to a bunch of studio pros and pals, who give 'Back in the High Life' a warmer, richer sound. It paid off with his first No. 1 (see No. 2 on our list of the Top 10 Steve Winwood Songs). The fourth and final single from the album features backing vocals by James Taylor and made it to No. 13. 8. 'The Finer Things'. From: 'Back in the High Life' (1986). After a four-year break, Winwood returned in 1986 with his fourth solo album and his most mainstream-leaning work. After the insular approach to the first three records, Winwood. He also recruited Winwood, after Traffic took a temporary break. Winwood wrote three of their only album's six tracks; the folksy 'Can't Find My Way Home' is the undisputed highlight.

Stephen Lawrence ("Steve") Winwood (born May 12, 1948 in Great Barr, Birmingham, England) is a British singer, songwriter, and musician who, in addition to his solo career, was a member of the bands the The Spencer Davis Group, recording the hit "Gimme Some Lovin'", Traffic, and Blind Faith. Winwood's commercial success waned during the mid and late 70's. He had a major hit with While You See A Chance in 1980.

The result was a disc evenly divided between Mason's catchy folk-rock compositions and Steve Winwood's compelling rock jams. Mason's material was the most appealing both initially and eventually: the lead-off track, a jaunty effort called "You Can All Join In," became a European hit, and "Feelin' Alright?" turned out to be the only real standard to emerge from the album after it started earning cover versions from Joe Cocker and others in the 1970s
