It features Walter in a variety of musical styles, including a good rendition of "Hard Hearted Woman" and a wild version of "La Cucaracha".

Walter Horton was considered by peers and fans alike to be a genius of the blues harmonica. He created a unique, fluid style that fused blues feeling with an uplifting jazzlike tone. The beauty that he created through his music was in striking contrast to the troubled life he lived.
Walter Horton, better known as Big Walter (Horton) or Walter "Shakey" Horton (April 6, 1921 – December 8, 1981) was an American blues harmonica player. A quiet, unassuming, shy man, he is remembered as one of the premier harmonica players in the history of blues. Willie Dixon once called Horton "the best harmonica player I ever heard. Robert Palmer named him as "one of the three great harmonica soloists of modern blues", with the two others being cited as Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson II.
Shakey' Horton's big honking harp really did sound like a 'Mississippi Sax', bringing sound of his Memphis youth to the work of some Blues Legends in Chicago. In 1964, Shakey recorded an album ‘The Soul of the Blues Harmonica’, produced by Willie Dixon, with Buddy Guy on guitar. Shakey recorded with a stream of top Blues artists like JB Hutto, Big Mama Thornton, Koko Taylor and Robert Nighthawk and spent time encouraging younger harp talents like Charlie Musselwhite and Carey Bell. Finally recorded as a leader, Shakey’s 1979 album puts the focus squarely on him. FINE CUTS.
