The New York art rockers released their third album, which included the classic Life During Wartime. 7. October: Blondie - Eat To The Beat. The band's fourth album features the huge hit Atomic (released as a single in 1980), Dreaming and Union City Blue. 8. November: Pink Floyd - The Wall. The prog legends released one of their most famous albums, a double concept piece about personal alienation, which was accompanied by a typically lavish live show. The LP included the No 1 hit Another Brick In The Wall Part II and Comfortably Numb.
The group's performances, which still involved smashing guitars and kicking over drums, were well received, and led to their first major US appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival. The group, especially Moon, were not fond of the hippie movement, and thought their violent stage act would stand in sharp contrast to the peaceful atmosphere of the festival. The next album was The Who Sell Out-a concept album paying tribute to pirate radio, which had been outlawed in August 1967 by the Marine, &c. Broadcasting (Offences) Act 1967.
