There's a Riot Goin' On is the fifth studio album by American funk and psychedelic soul band Sly and the Family Stone. It was recorded from 1970 to 1971 at Record Plant Studios in Sausalito, California and released later that year on November 20 by Epic Records. The album's recording was dominated by band frontman Sly Stone during a period of drug use and intra-group tension

Marshall Crenshaw features layered performances with clean production. Crenshaw later expressed dissatisfaction with the way the album was produced, saying, "That band back then was really slick. I see the tapes of that now and I think, 'This is a little too polished, almost. We just rehearsed all the time. We were just playing clubs in the city, but we would still get together twice a week and go over stuff, and I would really drill those guys: 'Here's how the bass drum goes, and put the cymbal crash here. There was a discernible viewpoint that came across. It captured something, a statement was being made. We generated a lot of excitement in New York City from grassroots and built it up in less than a year. We had it really nailed down, but things got tricky after that.

It's reminiscent of the old Lovin' Spoonful days and sounds like something that would be on "Daydream" with its calming guitar and simplistic bass line, with the addition of an orchestra that adds a whole other level to the song. The lyrics don't give much to offer, but when put in context with the movie they work. The thing about The Lovin' Spoonful is that their albums usually consist of a few singles and a lot of fillers. Their music isn't bad by any means, it's just that their albums tend to be a bit inconsistent. for "Daydream" isn't that low, is it?

There is a song I heard in the Liverpool FC top 10 goals of 2018/19 video. The song in the background is a fast paced song, I could make out some lyrics and 'i know when I'm doing it right, I know when I'm doing it wrong' and 'here is where I belong'. Can anyone please help me out with the song. Tom Westerfield 23 June 2019 Reply

There's also two versions of this song, this one, which was a promo, and another live promo, with a heavier guitar tone. Guitar Work A - Intricite appregriated chords with nice bending work. Vocals A+ I don't care if they have to layer their studio recordings with up to 45 dubbs and layers, the vocals are the definition of melodic. Billy Joel and Hall & Oates hated making videos, so they chose a director with similar contempt for the medium. That was Jay Dubin, and he has a lot to say on the subject. A. J. Marshall, THERE'S A LOT OF LOVIN' IN THIS OLD BOY YET, MGM SE 4648. My copy has the yin/yang MGM green/yellow label, stereo.Production is typical late '60s "hip" pop orchestra with bright brass and violins, something you'd generally expect with the Burt Bacharach songs. I picked it up for the two Jimmy Webb tunes. I have NO IDEA who this guy is or was in the entertainment world, but the liner notes by Sammy Cahn more than strongly hint that he's referencing Al Jolson, without actually mentioning that name. A. J. Marshall appears to be in his 60s or 70s in the album's photos, and he's wearing a bad rug (toupe') that reminds me of Hank Snow's later album photos. Marshall sounds like he's imitating Al Jolson (sings from the back of his throat, flattening those "A" notes, raspy voice that sounds like it came from years of chain smoking), but without Jolson's exaggerated theatrical mannerisms. Marshall croons these love songs, instead of shouting them. Frankly, I have no idea who at a major label would greenlight producing this album. At best, it may have been some kind of money grabber attempt to ride the coattails of Eddie Fisher's last RCA Lp, YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET, which had a Jolson theme, or possibly Regis Philbin's bizarro weird pop album on Mercury.

Literally the worst album I've ever purchased. With that being said, it was probably the best 99 cents I've ever spent. This album is so bad it's nearly un-listenable. There's A Little Lovin' In This Old Boy Yet, is nothing less of a total gem.
