Ghostlights is the seventh full-length album by Tobias Sammet's metal opera project Avantasia. It was released on 29 January 2016. The opening track and first single "Mystery of a Blood Red Rose" was a candidate for the German representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, along with nine other songs.

Ghostlights" is the most recent product of Tobias Sammet's well proven Avantasia formula and offers a very varied 70 minutes of songs ranging from pop rock (opener "Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose" makes Sammet a dead ringer for Meat Loaf) over gothic rock ("Draconian Love" feat. SinBreed's Herbie Langhans) to power metal (on "Unchain The Light" with Michael Kiske).

EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet's AVANTASIA project will release its seventh studio album, "Ghostlights", on January 29, 2016 via Nuclear Blast. The twelve-song CD was produced by Tobias and Sascha Paeth at Gatestudio in Wolfsburg, Germany. Paeth engineered and mixed "Ghostlights", while the mastering was done by Michael Rodenberg. The opus features guest appearances by: Dee Snider (TWISTED SISTER) Geoff Tate (QUEENSRŸCHE) Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH) Sharon Den Adel (WITHIN TEMPTATION) Michael Kiske (HELLOWEEN) Ronnie Atkins (PRETTY MAIDS) Bob Catley (MAGNUM).
