Though it's not the longest Krallice album (that's Dimensional Bleedthrough, slightly), Diotima forgoes the long-short-long tack of previous Krallice efforts, creating marathons out of marathons that demand complete attention and destroy attention spans. During "Intraum", from 2008's Dimensional Bleedthrough, Krallice took a break from their four-piece hustle. Guitarists Mick Barr and Colin Marston ricocheted through quick, countering riffs until the sound sublimated into a restless seven-minute drone.

The third album by New York-based arty black metal band Krallice is the group's best work to date. Though the songs were mostly written during the same sessions that produced their previous releases, they seem to exhibit evolution, and a gradually expanding sonic palette.

On the flip side of the coin, the extremely nit-pick detail the band uses to construct their mini-epics has come with criticism too, often being compared to as nothing more than free-wheeling guitar doodlers who run entire songs along a non-linear path of .

Diotima" lyrics reference Friedrich Hölderlin "Ode to Diotima" "Memory" "Her Recovery". The vinyl version has "The Clearing" and "Inhume" switched places with "Inhume" having several seconds of feedback at the beginning which wasn't heard on the CD.
