Between~1974 - Dharana. Peter Michael Hamel on the name of the group (2005): "Between Title meant and means both things that are actually mutually exclusive. In the beginning, we wanted to name the project BACH course we chose this name, partly as an allusion to the immortal composer of the Baroque era with the same name, but also the name could decipher as "Between All Chairs" ("Between all the chairs"). On this album, the group was joined percussionist Charles Campbell, who played well in Niagara.

Dharana is the standout album in Between's ouevre. The music is a fusion of Hamel's warm, mantric keyboard melodies, Roberto Detree's classical acoustic guitar, Robert Eliscu's oboe, and the multi-percussive colorations of Cotch Black. It is one of the finest "world fusion" albums ever done.

With this album, Between found their own expression, delivering an original approach to West meets East combination. This album is very structured, not very dark, avant garde and unclear as the majority of krautrock bands. The music is luminous, particularly enchanting with beautiful acoustic passages. Joy" is about the highs and lows of life. Percussion and aboe stand out as the organ pulses throughout.
